PC Interfaces
Connect PCs—and the associated software tools—to CAN/CAN FD networks to control CAN systems, but also to record communications, convert messages into readable signals, and/or make the behavior of the system transparent. This category is ideal for CAN/CAN FD development, but also for communication with CAN/CAN FD in production.
All development phases are supported, from rapid troubleshooting to structured analysis, including recording, playback, and visualization of key parameters, so that engineering teams can understand what the vehicle or machine is doing and why. In production, these interfaces ensure continuous, trouble-free, and reliable communication with CAN/CAN FD. The interfaces are optimized for 24x7 applications where systems are operational for years. This allows, for example, end-of-line testers as well as complete machine control to be controlled.
Ixxat CAN Interface Driver
Two different drivers are available for the software interfacing of IXXAT PC interfaces: the universal driver "Virtual Communication Interface" (VCI) for Windows and the “Embedded Communication Interface” (ECI) for Linux, INtime, RTX, VxWorks and QNX. The drivers can operate all CAN channels and all CAN interfaces - even different types - within one PC.
These powerful driver packages support all CAN boards, regardless of their PC interface, with a uniform programming interface (API). This means that applications based on VCI-API can be used with all Ixxat CAN boards without modifying the application program. The drivers support multi CAN-channels and/or multiple boards – even different types – to arrange the desired amount of channels.
Peak CAN Interface Driver
PCAN is available for all PEAK PC Interfaces, which is a synonym for ‘Peak CAN Applications’. This is a flexible system for planning, developing and using Controller Area Networks (CAN). It is a powerful product for both developers and end users. PCAN is available for Windows® and Linux. These enable a real-time connection between applications and all CAN buses that are physically connected to the PC via PCAN hardware.
The PCAN-Basic programming interface (API) provides basic functions for connecting your own programmes to the CAN and CAN FD interfaces from PEAK-System. PCAN-Basic is the interface between the programme and the driver. PCAN-Basic is designed to be compatible with different operating systems. Software projects can be transferred between supported systems with little effort.
